This week is the first week that I really wish that I was eligible to win….I {heart} the one Tamron lens I own so very, very much!
Amy and I are guest judging this week and we have a whole panel of our contributors who agreed to help us make the final decision as to who the winners should be. I honestly have no idea how we’ll all pick the Top Ten this week…I’m certain the entries are going to be amazing!
Each of the judges has a special page set up and you can view mine here. You can read up on all kinds of useless and somewhat fascinating facts about each of us (ie. Keli can lick her elbow but Amy and I can touch our tongues to our noses!!) I have several photos that I came up with for this contest on that page, but I was having so much fun with them that I then came up with some new ones for my blog as well…
Entry #1:
I should be ashamed of myself for this entry because:a) the Amish hate having their photo taken….so
b) not only would they object to the fact that I took a photo of their feet in the buggy…but
c) they would also object to me having photographed their horse…and
d) they would especially object to me using a PHOTOGRAPHY blog’s logo on their buggy.
But, what they don’t know won’t hurt them and I couldn’t resist the irony. ;)

We spent one day late last summer with our cousins riding bikes around Kelly’s Island on Lake Erie. They were all riding around on their “I ♥ Faces” bikes of course!Entry #3:

My partner-in-crime, Miss Amy, and myself. Last summer while out shooting I passed through some Amish country in Wisconsin. While rounding a corner I came to a scene that took my breath away. A team of horses pulling a plow was stopped on a hillside arching toward me near the edge of the road while the Amish farmer stopped to adjust the harnesses.
The composition and the early dawn light made the shot magic. I slowed, gave him a wave, he tipped his hat.
That moment the mutual respect we shared was worth more to me than a great image. If you have been to my blog you would understand what it took for me to walk away... The Amish are such a wonderful people.

Often the Amish don't mind as long as their face isn't in the photo and you aren't obnoxious. While in Pennsylvania this summer I receive permission to photograph an Amish farmer raking hay as long as his back was turned.
We live in the middle of the Amish and I rarely take photos of them...but since he was parked right in our front yard, the temptation was too much to resist this time. LOL!
Actually, now that I think about it, our Amish friend was up on our porch talking to my husband at the time so there wasn't anyone in the buggy...it must just be the blanket that they use to keep warm.
Either way, it worked out perfect for the sake of this week's contest. :)
The camera strap one is the coolest! Man, I'm having a really hard time coming up with ideas for mine.

You look like a peanut in that pic with Amy!!! Don't people know that when shooting a petite person, you're always supposed to dutch tilt in the direction that makes them taller??? : )
How can you possibly have enough time to do all is that you do? Is Ohio in some weird time-space continuum thing that other states don't have? Loved the first set of pictures. Love the second set. Now I am ashamed of myself for only creating one set. Of 4. Not even 5. Hrmph. Love that dimples!

What great pictures! I'm totally stressing. I want to come up with something totally creative, but the creative juices don't seem to be flowing! Aghh! It's such a fun, fun theme too.

My advice? Just start going through your photo folders and look at each photo creatively to see if "i ♥ faces" will fit in naturally on it. That's what I did. :) I think I only took one new photo...the rest I just found in my file folders.
I take tons of Amish Animal and buggy photos. They don't mind as long as you don't get them. I'm going to save this post on my iTouch and show our Amish friends what you did! They will love it. They think it's so cool when the English think they are interesting people! Ha-ha. Great idea's!

I'm waiting on permission from a couple of people who's children are in some of my photos and then I'll get my post up.....I haven't let myself look at any of the other entries yet- sometimes inspiration can be a good thing - other times it can put you in a box. This is definitely think-outside-of-the-box week!
I'm thinking you may have something there with the camera strap!!

I have to admit I love the horse and buggy photo! There is an Amish community just up the road from us so this is a normal sight except for the I ♥ faces logo!! LOL!
