I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one who has problems getting lights that work for more then a year. I told Cain, that I have lost track of the lights, and what year I bought them, so I was going to start marking on them with tape what year I bought them, so I can figure out which ones are going out each year. I had to buy 10 new strands this year. I bought them at Target, instead of Walmart. Maybe that will make the difference. Love the pictures!

@Karin - I'm not sure how I finally got good tree photos...this is seriously the first year that this has happened.

I used one of my lenses that has an aperture of 2.8 and kept it opened wide. I also had my camera set at it's highest ISO of 1600. I don't fear using a high ISO because I own a program from http://www.imagenomic.com called Noiseware that is AMAZING. It pretty much takes out any noise that I can throw at it.

I then did a lot of editing in Camera RAW to tone down the yellows I had and then did my typical editing routine. I did go back into Hue/Saturation to tone down the yellows again though. I can't seem to take a nighttime photo without a lot of yellow in it.

Christmas tree decorating is a stressful endeavor. It shouldn't be...but it is. This year, I eventually was kicking the kids out of the room. Something wrong with that picture? Now my tree is bare from the middle down because hte kids can't keep their hands off the ornaments. I'm glad I switched to plastic bulbs. :)

We celebrate Advent, so we intentionally don't put up the tree until this week... sort of like the pinnacle of the preparations... so in my house, you'd be early!!

Those are really lovely photos! I love them! No one can tell from looking at the photos that there was any drama surrounding the tree-decorating. :)
